This trio is fast becoming one of my new favorites. They put on such a great show. I love the combination of the strumming classical guitar and the violin backed by a healthy dose of intricate drumming. And they blow me away more and more every time I see them.

Zac and the Beat weren’t the only ones who played a great set, though. Coald Toast wound spacey vocals through tribal drumming and repetitive guitar lines. Matt of American Tourist complimented his guitar and singing by simultaneously tapping on a bass drum. And the Invisible Hand rocked out like only a couple of talented kids from Charlottesville can, despite the singer’s bad cold and scratchy voice.

Next, Matt took the stage as American Tourist, playing a lot of new material. After Matt, Jack Meets the Giant wrapped up the evening with a few songs. It turned out to be a really nice show, so be sorry you missed it. But don’t worry, you can still get the poster.

The fourth annual Ghost of Pop show was crammed with local RVA bands all of which wielded their own unique pop sensibilities. With so many bands its hard to recap the whole show, but personal highlights for me were the ELO cover by Hot Lava, and the Aretha Franklin cover by Prabir and the Substitutes featuring a deceptively petite guest singer. The whole thing was topped off by a stage flooded with miscellaneous audience and band members bringing the house down during the last song, that I think cost Prabir’s guitarist his guitar.
Of course this was also Loose Limbs first poster offering, a collaboration between our founders Brandon Peck and myself.
