This show was a personal one for me. For the last two years, I have been playing in Mouthbreather with four really great friends. It was on this night that those of us in Mouthbreather said goodbye to our longtime drummer and co-founder, Gene Byard.
Not to mention this was the first night that the Czar had an ABC license, so the cards were already stacked in favor of the night being a good one!
Snacktruck went on first, playing to a full room. Spacy instrumentals and dual drummers galore, they really never disappoint and tonight was no exception. Following them was the Catalyst playing a solid set of loud and noisy punk rock ending with several back to back Nirvana covers. We set up and following suit began with our own Nirvana cover before going into the last seven songs we would ever play with our good friend Gene. At least we all have this poster to forever immortalize Gene in full on tour mode.
